“Come Whatever Will, Come Whatever May”

“Come Whatever Will. Come Whatever May”. 22”x48”. It captures my feelings moving into 2022’s unknowns. Hopefully that’s conveyed by the small beads behind her becoming bigger before her. Below, her “guard” dog keeps a few things away. To her right, the knots represent “certainty”, but that’s fraying. The green beads represent moving forward in faith…regardless.
The patches, above and to the left below, represent foundation: anchored in her being and remembered in her confusion.

I’m using “Confusion’s Crown” from my series: Just A Crown: Imagining 40 of the Crowns Worn by Black Women in Their Lifetime, on red leather, paired with bone and polymer clay beads, polyester, yellow-dyed twill, cotton and nylon knots with fabric wire in a beeswax polished handmade pine frame.

Available. 01/11/2022 price: $3,700 before being exhibited. Price after successive exhibitions will increase. Currently exhibiting with Texas Baptists Headquarters Black History Month featuring Artist, Jas Mardis. Anticipated next exhibition will be Chocolate Secrets Artist Celebration of Jas Mardis, March 2022.
